Miracles in the Night

“Sweet dreams, dear!” my mom said after giving me a soft kiss on my forehead.

“Goodnight, Mom!” I answered with my eyes half-closed.

As I was sleeping deeply, I dreamt that I was in the fortress--alone and quiet. I went up the long stairs and I saw a room with a big window.  As I glimpsed outside, I saw how bright the night is. The moon is in the corner. The stars twinkle incessantly. It looks peaceful. I saw the mountains clearly. I can’t believe that I’m seeing a bright night!

I was shaking with awe, until one angel holds her wand and starts to illuminates the sky more.

The next angel holds the planet Saturn effortlessly.

The other angel holds a basket and picks up the petals as she scatters it to the mountains and to the grounds- that scene made me clap, almost wanting to join them.

Some angels are dancing enchantingly. One is holding a ribbon as she swings from left to right.

Their white colored dresses with different colors of laces under their skirts and rounded flowers on their heads add to their charm. Their movement gives life to the dead night.

One angel went to me and said, “Come and join us."

I joined them and started doing what they're doing.

I was holding an angel's hand after the other.

I sang with them, scattered the petals, and held a big star. I didn't want to return to the boring castle. Though, my heart knew, the daylight will come soon.
Then, the angels started to get blurred, yet I still hear a vanishing whisper saying, “‘til sunrise...”

“Dear, wake up now!" the sunlight touched my skin as my mom opened the curtain and the window.

"It was just a dream," I sadly told myself.

Good thing, mom didn’t hear me mumbled.

"I have something for you," Mom said as she handed me a plain black and boring handkerchief. I just answered thank you and smiled at her. She told me to fix my bed and to go down for my breakfast.

I remained lying on my bed then I started observing the handkerchief with pouting lips,  I turned it front then my eyes grew bigger as I noticed a tiny angel holding a wand with twinkling stars embroidered at the corner of it.

I joined the angels in my dreams last night and I remember a hush, “‘til sunrise…”

I grinned as I went down for breakfast and to embrace my mom.

We owned the night

The strums of the guitar started. The night sensed its difference from the previous one. The sound was followed by the beat of the drums. The fire was heightened fiercely with its ashes sometimes joined the air. Who can resist the beauty of these gypsies' blending voices? They talked to the nature, and the once silence was covered by graceful dances, clapping of hands, playing with tambourines, yelling and chanting songs, turning around to the fire in the middle. The stillness of the sea started to rave as they continued to feel the beat of music.

This stunning woman who was amid the bonfire and music holds her long skirt so that her feet won’t distract her balance. She stepped into the gray sand smoothly, sometimes closing her eyes as the sound takes her into an ecstasy.

She owned the night. It was perfect, no one judges and discriminate them. The beating of drums got harder as their chant grows louder. They attach to their hearts that moment, because that’s the time that they pray, feel the pain then let go- so that they can live for another day again.

The stars were twinkling and helping the bonfire to lighten their own territory.

Some gypsies of her age would dance together with her- and one muscled man looked at her because she made the world stand still.

Tomorrow, they will return to their same routine. They will live again on the same unacceptable beliefs as others think.

But what they don’t know- is that normal people also love to dance. Admire their beauty, stubborness- yet able to know the time to become soft.

Dancing is their soft side- they would probably do it once more.

(Inspired by Lady Antebellum's song, We owned the night- credit for the title must go to that song.)

Saturday Move and groove(08.13.11)

Last Saturday, Makati Feast held their 2nd Sabado Move and Groove. I attended Makati Feast twice last Thursday, and my sister was asking me to buy a ticket for the Saturday party(I hesitated at first).

Saturday finally set in and I was preparing the clothes to wear, it's a must to wear something related to the theme, but I decided to wear a casual clothes cause I wanted to dance.

When I got in the Dance studio of Makati Square, I was alone, but then Sis. Jeck told me that there are PICC feasters, so it loosen up my awkward feelings. I was also waiting for Uncle John and Aunt Meda, but they were late cause they went to He Cares Anniversary. Good thing, I saw Sis. Jo and her brother, so we chatted for awhile, until Sis. Mara and Jeck hosted the groovy night.

I was excited at that time and I know everyone did also.

So we had the dinner then after eating, we danced the night out with the music of 60’s to contemporary. We danced for the glory of the Lord, and it was a wholesome party. Everyone was sweating out, so it seemed like an exercise. I was glad to be leading them at times, I was a born dancer, according to my highschool teacher and I started joining dance clubs from highschool to College.

I was also surprised to see my sister, Pao, there, wearing 'pambahay' clothes. lol

It was a night to remember, because I was able to meet new friends, too.

God loves to see us dancing! When we are sad, He can turn it into dancing! We are told to worship Him with dancing! There is a time in life we SHOULD dance! So YES! Dance, dance, dance!
