A tale of a Sanguine woman about Habagat
Amidst the
recent deluge, Habagat that swamped Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces,
we saw the intrinsic humor of Filipino people. This humor, coupled with an
en0rmous amount of faith, proved to be the Pinoy’s floater in the swim of life.
Happiness is found in the heroism displayed by those who did not think twice to
rescue the helpless. In times of trouble, and despite their many differences,
Filipinos hold hands and watch each other’s back and display the utmost act of
kindness. In moments of need they become one. Every act of kindness
automatically brings happiness to the soul.
My tale starts
when a continuous heavy rain marsh our house. I came from office and walked
along the flooded street of Pandacan. I saw how the flood slowly overflow our
bungalow house, starting from the dining area going to our….opppss not there,
please--bedroom. I heard the flood saying, no time to listen to your plea.
Since, we’re all women in our house (me, my mom and my sister)—adrenaline rush,
panic and alarm rolled into one arises our weak selves. So, imagine us rolling
our sleeves up like a Macho man ready to put our stuff in a safer place. Good
thing, my sister who’s the strongest among all of us, was so determined to save
everything to the extent of huddling the water from the floor and putting it in
three basins. Actually for almost two days that’s what we’re doing. But last
Wednesday, no amount of strong arms can cease the flood’s overflow, even though
we’re like practicing for a Dragon boat racing, Nadah-- so we let the flood
flow. We compare the struggles that we experience from Ondoy to that night, and
I think we’re more prepared and geared up.
I’m just glad
that we’re born crazy and happy. We still see humor on our situation. We laugh
at our folly while looking at some of the little garbage that we had. We
continued watching the news and receive some updates from PAG-ASA. Yes, some of
things were wrecked. We slept together frightened if we’d wake up floating in
the flood. But hey, by God’s provision we literally woke, still with the flood,
in which we could use for washing our face. But with faith, that we’re still
alive. Yes, we’ve got bruised, traumatized and exhausted but it didn’t end us
living angry with the situation—it made us more alert, braver and more
grateful.
Because we’re
also flooded with our relatives, friends, LOJ family, Media Ministry friends, officemates’
concerns, prayers and assistance. I know as I’m writing this, some of are
brothers and sisters whose situation is worse than us. But I believe that in
moments of defeat, like a phoenix rising from its ashes, God’s people will held
their head high as they remain magnanimous. They’ll slowly restore what they
lost 7 times fold. They’ll be more blessed.

Celebrating my 24th birthday
"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
It doesn't have to be a grandious party to be happy on your birthday. Like mine, I woke up with feeling good and blessed for another year of my life. I was actually excited for this birthday (well, I'm like this eversince though.) I actually prayed intensely to the Lord, Thanking Him and offering this day to Him. Because He loves me, He gave what I pray for- to have a simple celebration with people who are close to my heart. I'll use this month to make it happen. I received messages from Facebook, read birthday posts, cheerful greetings from my officemate. Even the store manager in Mini stop knew my birthday, yes after divulging it to her..hehe.. My sister, Pao cooked carbonara and cheesesticks for me and my officemates.
Here are some of the gifts and letters I received:

Note: It's fun to initiate in asking your friends about their birthday wish for you. And I did. I'll never regret that I did. I love their answers. May all the dreams that God has for me happen in HIS time.:)

Something in OLD (Part 2)
Yesterday, we celebrated Korea's semestral break and decided to come up with a Retro Party. There were still few classes, but every teachers(PM and AM) were excited to look with their enchantress hippie/retro/vintage look. On the otherhand, I wore a classy dress together with my gold or bronze accessories then I just brush up my hair. T'was fun seeing myself imitating an image on the google plus seeing my officemates showcasing their stuff too. The pantry was also designed well with flowers, asymmetrical shapes, disco ball and lights.

Simple happiness
Cherry blossom inspired
B and W cups and spoons
I'm not really an aspiring painter or cartoonist. There were rare moments when I simply wanted to combine different colors on paper and just let my imagination fly. It may not be as pretty as others masterpiece but atleast, I'm able to express myself through this and noone can stop from doing so.:)

Happy Birthday, Ma!
Last June 12, Sunday was my mom’s 48th birthday. Supposedly, I would write for her prior to her birthday, but I’ve been busy and pre-occupied with so many things. So I postpone in doing so. Now, I have to do this. Not out of pressure but out of outpouring love for her.
My mom is not a super mushy mom, she’s actually a little bit stubborn and sometimes strict mom. She was used to shout to us when things aren’t done immediately. She wakes up very early in the morning because her body clock works that way. When she’s already awake, she’d do her best not to make us awake, because we normally wake up late-there may be times when she’d wanted us to wake up early so she’ll make annoying sounds in doing so.
There are so many funny things about her: She can be very, very cool especially when I’ll seek her attention and we’ll sing together. Eventhough she doesn’t know the song that I’m singing, she’ll still listen and sing with me(mind you her lyrics are most of the time wrong.haha)
Next, when I’m going to share about my day to her. She’ll sometimes listen and along the way she’ll make gossip about special people of her life and sometimes even the non-sense things. She’s also thoughtful because she’d rather let us eat first before her.
She ‘s also reminding us to still use ‘po’ and ‘opo’ once we talk to old people.
She prompt us to pray to the Lord earnestly especially when problem strikes and when blessings rain in our family.
She taught us to love old singers, vintage things and old-fashion way of living.
When we’re having a problem and we’re confuse about the world we live in. we seek her advise and she will always tell us to not to follow the wrong things she’d done with her life.
I saw her eyes light up still when I talk about how beautiful she is, she’d just slightly upward her shoulder and looks at me amazingly and she’’ll say” ‘Of course!’
I love her curly short hair like a flower and her light brown eyes deep like an ocean.
She also loves poor people. She’s actually a giver to them. She’s a good listener and she knows how to connect with people around her. She loves my friends and she sometimes love them more than me..haha
There maybe times of misunderstanding and I’ll show her my stubborn side but in the end of the day. We forgive and forget. We let go and move on, because she loves me more than I love her.
Those are the small things that I appreciate more about her. And last Sunday, everything worked on perfectly for her birthday. It was a simple celebration among us (me, Pao and close friends). After attending The Feast, she got a free ride, treat and movie ticket. She received love, hugs, kisses and smiles. She’s the most special woman on that day, and for almost 12 hours she kept quiet and accepting the gifts of the world to her. I won’t forget that very simple day.:)
She was very happy and seeing her happy multiplies my happiness too.:)))
Again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mama Mariela! You’re simply the best.:)
Pao and Mama
Pao, Yani and me
Pao, mama, Yani, Mean and me
Pao, mama, Yani, Mean and Anthony
Happy 100th year bday also, NESTLE!
You completed the celebration.=)

When Searching Harry Met Happy Sally
"Everyone seems busy today." gasped a handsome and slendered figure Harry to a stranger named Ludy. Then Ludy answered unhesitantly, "Yes, they're putting up an enrichment training for the kids."
Along the children's genuine laughter, the nervousness written on their parents faces and the staffs' hands on guidance to the kids, there goes Sally, who was outstanding among the crowd. She puts a happy face in dealing with the parents and the kids. She was extending her lovely arms to a young boy who initially asked her to play with him. Hers was a world of explosive laughter and cranky yet clever jokes. Though, she can be sometimes considered as an ADHD, most importantly she found passion in what she's doing.
Then Harry elbowed and whispered to Ludy. " I want to know that girl with a beautiful smile." Then Ludy said to him, " I think you find happiness in my bestfriend's personality. Come with me, I'll let you know each other." Then Harry's eyes sparkled as he approach Sally's busy yet down-to-earth lifestyle.

Awesome published in Feast bulletin
I'm so happy to see my article about Awesome kids ministry
published last March 13, 2011 in Feast Bulletin.
I dreamt of it too. And I slowly got it. Next time, I want to make
more articles to share the good news about People of God.
I also want to publish there interesting stories and testimonies.
Surely there are so many adventures to uncover, especially those who journey
towards God and Victory.
I love to do it, lemme' be an instrument for telling it to the world.
Of course, I also my shared story. Someday, I want the world to know about it.
Especially those who would find an interest to listen. *& *

Just a reminder for an impatient heart
MK did this for me. Another funstuff from her. We had a little conversation with this.
After giving the "cute reminder", she nonverbally said:
MK: You have a pizza hut heart shaped card, right? put it there
and flash it on your station wall.
Thina: Why, do you think, I'm waiting impatiently?
MK: No, you're not even waiting!
Thina: Haha.. Yeah, I'm just patient! * *
The new curly haired trainee was just looking weirdly on the both of us.
hays, another uncanny trip between the 2 of us! hehe
